Society of Textile Chemists (STC) had organized a guest lecture on ‘’OrgaTEX the management system for dyeing and finishing plants’’ for students and faculty members of NTU. The speaker for the lecture was Dr. Michael Woydt, who is presently working with SETEX Schermuly textile computer GmbH, a Germany-based company that is specialized in designing and manufacturing automation solutions for the textile dyeing and finishing market. Dr. Michael Woydt worked as a chemist for the last 20 years at a dyestuff and auxiliary supplier in the area of the optimization of methods for the textile finishing process. SETEX has been producing industrial controller on windows technology with a graphical user-interface manufactured in the German headquarters in Mengerskirchen.

The objective of this seminar was to enlighten the students about how to enhance the reproducibility and right first time dyeing and finishing of textiles. In this lecture, Dr. Michael Woydt discussed the current situation and how we can improve the processes in a dyeing and finishing house. He also introduced the participants to the software and hardware solutions designed by SETEX that not only make production processes faster, more efficient and with a higher quality but also smarter by the combination of advanced machine automation and smart data management.
