The Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) held a Public Awareness Seminar on “Nuclear and Radiation Safety in Pakistan” at the National Textile University (NTU), Faisalabad, on October 23, 2025. NTU PMYDC Society of Chemistry organized the event.
The session aimed to enhance understanding of nuclear and radiation safety among students and faculty, strengthening collaboration between the regulatory body, academia, and industry.
Mr. Rana Muhammad Nadeem, Principal Scientific Officer (PNRA), and Mr. Amir Mahmood, Principal Engineer (PNRA), addressed the audience, highlighting key aspects of radiation protection, safety, and regulatory practices in Pakistan.

He advised avoiding unnecessary presence in rooms where radiation equipment such as X-ray machines, CT scanners, or fluoroscopy units is in operation.
Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Raza Chairman (NTU Department of Applied Sciences) highlighted that the event aimed to raise public awareness and promote understanding of radiation safety. After the seminar, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Hussain (Dean, School of Sciences), faculty members, and Ms. Nadia Shamim (Assistant Director, Student Affairs) held a discussion with the PNRA team on future collaboration initiatives.
