Sports Spirit Ignited at NTU as Textile and Materials Departments Launch Intra-Departmental Games


The cricket ground of the National Textile University (NTU) was brimming with energy and anticipation today as it hosted the grand Opening Ceremony of the Intra-Departmental Sports for the Department of Textile Engineering & Technology and the Department of Materials.
The event was officially inaugurated by the university's Rector, Prof. Dr. Rashid Masood, who ceremoniously kicked off the festivities, marking the beginning of a series of competitive sporting events designed to foster camaraderie and a healthy competitive spirit among the students.
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering of faculty deans, chairmen, and staff, underscoring the institutional importance of sports alongside academics. The guest list included Dr. Zulifiqar Ali, Dean of the School of Engineering & Technology (SET), who graced the occasion as a chief guest.
They were joined by the heads of the participating departments, Dr. Muhammad Qamar Khan, Chairman (Clothing), and Dr. Usman Zubair, Chairman (Materials). The event also saw the presence of a significant number of esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Zubair Khaliq, Dr. Asif Hafeez, Dr. Zakariya Zubair, Dr. Zuhaib Ahmad, Dr. Jawad Naeem, and lecturers Muzammil Mehmood, Iqra Abdul Rashid, Ayesha Afzal, and Farooq Azam.
The university's sports administration was well-represented by Mr. Waqar Ahmed, Deputy Advisor Sports, along with Sports Officers Mr. Imran Ali and Mr. Parvaiz Akhtar, who are instrumental in organizing and overseeing the sporting events.
The opening ceremony sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting season of intra-departmental competitions. The initiative aims to provide students with a platform to showcase their athletic talents, promote physical well-being, and build team spirit outside the classroom.
