National Textile University has a legacy to witness knowledge and skills of scholars round the globe. To emphasize the motto of national textile university “Innovate and lead” the faculty and administration are constantly striving enthusiastically.

Design Department (NTU) is focused to equip students with latest happenings in the field of design and to progress interaction with world’s renowned artists and craftsmen.

“Ustad Shafiq Uz Zaman” the chief calligrapher of The Prophet’s Mosque, Madina visited NTU and conducted a workshop of calligraphy at the Department of Design on 24 December 2019. Shafeeq uz Zaman performed calligraphy (in the Thuluth script) on 177 domes of the Prophet’s Mosque. He has been giving his services for the last 30 years. He won second prize at the International Calligraphy Competition in Istanbul, Turkey. He has also won several competitions at national and international levels.

NTU faculty and students enthusiastically participated in the workshop. Ustad sahib wrote Quran verses in 4 calligraphic fonts and taught participants the rules of calligraphic fonts.
