Two Days Workshop on Composite Material Fundamentals: Testing, Fabrication, Design, and Analysis

Composite materials are emerging as a potential replacement of the metal parts in various application areas, such as automobiles, sports, civil, protection, and aerospace industry. For this purpose, a two days’ workshop on fundamentals of composites materials was held at National Textile University Faisalabad from 26-27 August 2019. The workshop was attended by a total 11 participants mainly from Defense Industry. The goal of the workshop was to give theoretical and hands-on training of the subject and give awareness regarding composite fabrication, testing, and analysis. Dr Yasir Nawab, Dean FET/ Director NCCM, the key resource person delivered a talk on Composite Fabrication techniques and Thermal testing. The first day activities included fabrication of composite samples by the participants using hand lay-up and vacuum infusion techniques. The second-day activities included talks by Dr Khubab Shaker (Asst. Professor, Weaving Dept) on Mechanical testing followed by hands-on development and testing of samples in thermal and mechanical testing labs. Later in the end a talk was delivered by Mr. Muhammad Ayub Asghar (Assistant Professor, Weaving Dept) on Advance woven composites. The workshop activities ended with certificate distribution and concluding remarks by Dr. Talha Ali Hamdani, Chairman Weaving Dept.
