Dr. Muzzamal Hussain is an Assistant Professor (BPS-19) in the Department of Textile Engineering at National Textile University (NTU), Faisalabad, Pakistan. He earned his PhD from the University of Lille, France, where his research focused on hybrid materials for technical applications. His academic and industrial experience spans textile engineering, knitting technology, composite materials, sustainable manufacturing, textile recycling, circular economy, and the development of alternative natural fibers for value-added applications. He has authored 34 peer-reviewed journal articles, contributed eight chapters to international books, edited three books, and filed six patents, including technologies related to banana, sisal and other alternative fibers, textile composites, and sustainable material development. His research has generated licensed technologies and industrial solutions, including processes for converting agricultural and textile waste into fibers and composite products. He has supervised PhD, MS/MPhil and undergraduate research in sustainable textiles, recycled materials, smart textiles, fiber-reinforced composites, environmental management and circular product development. Dr. Hussain has contributed to major national and international research and innovation programmes supported by organizations including the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the World Bank, SMEP-UK, Reverse Resources, PARB, FAO, SMEDA, WWF and industry partners. His work connects academic research with practical industrial transformation through textile-to-textile recycling, waste traceability, decarbonization, alternative fibers, sustainable composites and resource-efficient manufacturing. Alongside his academic role, he serves as CEO/Director of KnowTex Solutions Private Limited and is Co-Founder — Circularity at Alternative Fiber Solutions Private Limited. He has also served as Director of the National Center for Composite Materials and has led industry–academia collaboration, technology commercialization, professional training, stakeholder engagement and national innovation events. His professional mission is to translate research into scalable technologies, responsible production systems and commercially viable circular solutions for Pakistan's textile and advanced-materials sectors.

Patents: Six patent applications have been filed covering enzymatic degumming and mechano-chemical preparation of spinnable banana fibers; woven and knitted fabrics from sisal-blended yarn; a lightweight natural-fiber helmet shell; wool-fiber blended yarn development using conventional ring and rotor spinning; and preparation of spinnable fibers from corn peel.
