Nida Ramzan

Born in Faisalabad Pakistan, Nida Ramzan is visual artist. Nida is currently living and working in Faisalabad. Nida did her Post-Graduation in 2014 from National College of Arts, Lahore Pakistan and her graduation in Fine Arts in 2010 from Faisalabad G.C University, Faisalabad, (Faisalabad Institute of Textile and Fashion Design) Pakistan. Presently, teaching at National Textile University Faisalabad as assistant professor.
Her work has been exhibiting in several groups shows in Pakistan including “D’ Art Fest” Lahore 2019 “Mix Tape (1)” Karachi (2018) “Visit to home” Faisalabad (2018), “Tasweer Ghar artist Residency show” (2017), “Karachi Biennale” (2017), “Live Art & Performative Gestures” (2016), “Basaliq” (2015), "We Are All Mad Here" (2015), “The Making of Meanings” (2015), “LLF” (2015), “A String Quartet” (2015), “Master Pieces” (2014), “FRESH” (2014), Including an “International Festival of Video Art 2014” (Venice) 2014.
Nida has also participated in 2 residencies in Pakistan, “Tasweer Ghar artist Residency” (2017) and “Izhar By Film Fellowship (IBFF)” in collaboration with UN women (2017).

I am working in video and performance art along side my canvas pieces.
On a daily basis I found myself overwhelmingly confronted with images and prescriptions for "being beautiful." I decided to address the illusions and the realities that exist for women faced with this fact of contemporary culture.
In the videos, the aim is to experiment till the point where the transformation and shape of the body merge with the objects and elements until it is changed into a sculpture when affected physically from the elements and objects. I felt it’s important to explore the issue of why women have such a premium placed upon their appearance, pushing many to the point of obsession and most to spend a great deal of time and money attempting to recreate themselves. The work offers a visual critique of the psychological, corporeal and cultural ways of viewing the human condition. The certain symbols contained in the work are used to reflect the idea of violence, endurance and communication.
