Establishment of Materials Research Society University Chapter at NTU


The Materials Research Society (MRS) is a professional organization for materials researchers, scientists and engineers, and its Headquarter is in Pennsylvania, USA. The MRS was established in 1973 and is a recognized leader in the advancement of interdisciplinary materials research with over 14,000 members from more than 90 countries around the world. MRS University Chapter is a vital part of the Materials Research Society, providing discussion between students and faculty and promoting student interest in materials science.

National Center for Composite Materials has established the University Chapter of Materials Research Society at National Textile University. The founding graduate students include Muhammad Kashif (President), Madeha Jabbar (Vice-President), Muhammad Imran Khan (Secretary), Muhammad Haris Ameer, Shahbaz Ahmad, Jehan Zeb Akram, Muhammad Raza and Raja Muhammad Waseem ullah Khan. The faculty advisors for this University Chapter are Dr. Yasir Nawab and Dr. Khubab Shaker.

MRS University Chapters are entitled to many benefits including: travel support for student members to attend MRS Spring and Fall Meetings; chapter rebates; distinguished speaker support; special project grants and more. The social aspect of becoming an official MRS University Chapter includes chances of networking with other students andmembers at the MRS Meetings are also great benefits to students in the materials community. The establishment of MRS University Chapter is a step forward towards internationalization of National Textile University and National Center for Composite Materials.
