The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is one of the most important Departments of the University. The Department is playing its Supporting role to cope with the challenging demands of time in the field of knowledge. The general objectives of the courses offered by the Department are to offset the narrowness of perception and outlook that results from early specialization in Technical field. The Department aspires to the development of knowledge that is socially and ethically relevant through innovation and excellence in its academic program. The Department offers compulsory courses prescribed by HEC in such disciplines as Functional English, Communication Skills. Technical Writing, Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies. Since Engineers are responsible members of commercial enterprises and Technical associations of a relatively high caliber, these disciplines help them to perform their job assignments and become high achievers in their respective fields.
VisionThe Department plans to launch BS (Linguistics), M. Sc (Linguistics) and MA English (Literature) in the near future. It also aims at starting Spoken English and IELTS programmes. After having hands on the skills, the candidates will acquire strong ability to speak English fluently as well as will be able to keep themselves abreast of the modern needs. Moreover, we have planned to install a Language Lab in near future to facilitate the students in building fluency and pronunciation in English.
