About the Department

Department of Garment Manufacturing at National Textile University is dedicated to serving the needs of students focused on a career in the Apparel industry. Program is designed to provide students with the education and technical skills needed for a career in a fast-paced, exciting, global industry of garment manufacturing. The department offers a program leading to Bachelor of Science degree in Garment Manufacturing. The curriculum is designed carefully by keeping in view the present and future needs of the industry and is fully flexible to be modified to keep pace with the rapidly changing production technologies. Emphasis is placed on developing skills and concepts in students, through laboratory work and many other activities. This is to enforce the theoretical knowledge and promote professional competence of students. An active interaction with industry is the main feature of our teaching philosophy: industrial visits, internships, symposiums and participation on workshops and industrial exhibitions are frequently carried out.

Undergraduate Program

A full time four-year program in textile engineering with specialization in Garment Manufacturing is being offered by the department. The program is based on a number of courses which have been designed considering the long term requirements of the textile industry in general and textile garment industry in particular. The program also provides knowledge about the future trends in textiles. The undergraduate students of the department are given detailed knowledge of natural and manmade fibers, basic know -how about fabric formation, textile wet processing and garment manufacturing.

B.Sc. Textile Engineering (4 Years)

Garment Society

Arranged an CSS awareness lecture and two technical lectures, one on GWP and other on Cutting.

Garment manufacturing laboratories are equipped with the latest machines required for the proper training of garment manufacturing students. All of the main types of industrial sewing machines and finishing equipment for both woven and knitted garments are available. The department has its own CAD facility. The latest CAD equipment supplied by Gerber of US are available to train students on all aspects of pattern making, grading, marker making, custom fitting of patterns, product development and fashion designing. A range of latest related software is also available to make students conversant with the changing trends in industry, Construction of additional labs and acquisition of new machines is also underway.
