About the Department

The Department of Materials and Testing is committed to provide full support to the undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University for gaining in-depth knowledge of conventional and high performance textile materials, the methods to evaluate their physical and chemical properties to ensure quality of intermediate and end products in textile processes. In totality, it endeavours to make it a centre of excellence for textile related research and development.

The Textile Physical Laboratory of the department has a wide range of calibrated equipment on which numerous fibers, yarn and fabric properties are measured in the standard atmospheric conditions. The laboratory is ISO 17025: 2005 accredited by Norwegian Accreditation Board since 2008. The accreditation project has been sponsored by the European Union through United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Islamabad.
