Progress Report of Spinning Society 2010 Events Diary
Spinning society 2010 is a team of selected students keen to work for the benefits and wellbeing of all the students and it works to keep the students updated with latest technical trends and current scenario of textile industry. In our university it is a platform to enhance technical skills and knowledge of students.
Department of Yarn Manufacturing serves as back bone of Spinning Industry of Pakistan

Excellent and high tech spinning and textile testing labs
spinning society also works under the supervision of DYM
Objectives:
To arrange technical lectures by the experienced managers of the textile industry.
To arrange the seminars in coordination with machinery manufacturers to introduce students to latest trends and innovations in the industry.
To arrange industrial tours to enhance the practical and technical knowledge of the students.
Spinning Society Team:

Students from Final year constitute Executive body
Students from Third, Second and First year constitute General body
It has organized following events up to now.
1) Salman Ahmad Lecture:
Spinning society 2010 arranged its first event on 18th march 2010. In the first event a lecture was arranged on the topic of “yarn singeing and rewinding on soft packages” The lecture was arranged with the collaboration of Chairman of the yarn manufacturing department “Mr. Hafiz Shehzad Maqsood” and “Mr. Uzair Hussain”
The lecture was delivered by Mr. Salman Ahmed who is currently senior technical manager in Mediterranean Textile EGYPT and previously was a part of NTU faculty. The lecture started at 4 pm in the seminar room Library. About 50-60 students along with the faculty of DYM were present in the seminar hall at the time of lecture. The duration of the lecture was about 1 hour. After the completion of the lecture Chairman Yarn Manufacturing Department gave his views about the lecture and presented the shield to Mr. Salman Ahmed on behalf of the spinning society 2010 and yarn manufacturing department.
2) Visit of Alumni for Job Fair:
Spinning society 2010 arranged its second event on 28th march 2010. In the second event a reunion was arranged of the graduates of spinning (session 1985-1989). The reunion was arranged with the collaboration of Chairman of the yarn manufacturing department “Mr. Hafiz Shehzad Maqsood” and “Mr. Uzair Hussain”
In the reunion all the graduates of the session 1985-1989 were present in National Textile University from all over Pakistan after almost 20 years. Along with the graduates of 1989 batch many of our previous & present teachers were invited as a chief guest on this historical event. Chief guests of this reunion were:-

In this whole event all the guidance for the arrangements were given by Chairman Yarn Manufacturing Department Mr. Hafiz Shehzad Maqsood and Mr. Sheikh Riaz (General Manager Nishat Mill Unit# 02) graduated from National Textile University in 1989. All the arrangements were done by Mr. Fahad Khan (president of spinning society 2010) and Mr. Farhan Shaukat Ali (vice president spinning society 2010). The event was held in the main hall of the university.
All the guests arrived at 1:30 pm and after tilawat-e-quran-e-pak all the guests came to the stage one by one and share their views and experience of the industry. All the chief guests also gave their comments. In the end lunch was offered at 3 pm. Then all the guests visited the university including old nawaz hostel and the cafeteria. A group photo was taken just before the departure of all the guests. 3) EFU (General Insurance Company) lecture:

Topic: Risk in Textile and Importance of insurance
Designation: Vice President
Organization: EFU (General insurance Company) Mr. Rashid delivered a lecture on latest trends in insurance. He gave us idea of risk parameters and the safety measures especially in textile related. Mr. Dr. jaffar Hussain Mubarak said about company and the procedure of insurance. The shields were presented to them by Mr. Hafiz Shahzad Maqsood and gave his comments about the event.
4) Industrial Tour of students in Shafi Spinning Mills (Rotor Spinning):
There was another successful event held by society. A tour of almost 40 students of 7th semester accompanied by faculty member on Saturday, May 22 , 2010 at about 10: 30 am students was conducted. General Manager Mr. Naeem Chaudhary received the students on main gate and they welcomed with an open heart. Students were divided into three groups and unit # 1 was visited and then unit # 2. There was refreshment after the tour.
At the end a photo session was held in which General Manager Mr. Naeem Chaudhary and other staff member had snaps with the students. The entire student appreciated the tour.
5) Lawrancepur Tour (Wollen Yarn):
To have an overview of woollen yarn process is more inculcating by the learning point of view than to study only from books. Keeping this thing in mind this industrial tour was part of our study.
Tour of 3rd year students was conducted to Lawrancepur. Mr. Aman ul Haq (MM) received the students. Students were divided to three groups to visit the Mill. Staff of mill was very cooperative there. 7) Industrial Tour to Riaz Textile:
Industrial visit of Riaz Textile Mills, (Spinning Unit) FerozWattoan for the students of 6th Semester has been arranged on Saturday, October 23, 2010. All the Spinning Students of 6th semester reached the Campus at 8:30 am sharp &university bus depart at 8:45 am. The students follow properdress code and a note book.
Mr. Zahid Ahmad (TD) received the students. Students were divided to three groups to visit the Mill. Staff of mill was very cooperative there. To capture the moment’s snaps were taken. 8) Seminar by Syntech Fibres Pvt. Ltd: Speakers: Muhammad Hamza and Naveed Zia

9) Tour to Sapphire Unit# 01:
Industrial visit of Sapphire Textile Mills, (Spinning Unit) Sheikhupura for the students of 4th Semester has been arranged on Saturday, October 30, 2010. All the Spinning Students of 4th semester reached the Campus at 8:30 am sharp & university bus depart at 8:45 am. The students follow proper dress code and note book. Mr. Shahzad Hussain (GM) received the students. Students were divided to three groups to visit the Mill. Staff of mill was very cooperative there. To capture the moment’s snaps were taken.
10) Inauguration of “TECHNICAL TEXTILES BOARD” in Testing Lab:
A board is displayed in testing lab which has been approved by Dr. Mumtaz Malik and here are samples of Technical Textiles given by i-Textiles Pvt. Ltd & Syntech Fibres Pvt. Ltd. This board has given a name of “Technical Textiles” and inaugurated by Mr. Saleem Raza.
A recreational tour to Lahore was arranged by society. The places visited Shahi Qilah, Badshahi Masjid and Wagha Border.
11) Inauguration of “TECHNICAL TEXTILES BOARD” in Testing Lab:
A board is displayed in testing lab which has been approved by Dr. Mumtaz Malik and here are samples of Technical Textiles given by i-Textiles Pvt. Ltd & Syntech Fibres Pvt. Ltd.
